Operculum, Inc. was founded by James W. Zeluff, M.D., a gynecologist, and Terry L. Ray, a medical device entrepreneur, as a gynecological company with the intention of developing and researching innovative contraceptive devices.
Operculum brings together seasoned industry executives with a cumulative tenure of over 50 years of industry experience. The management team has successfully founded and marketed Neuro/Orthopedic and female contraceptive implant companies; has designed and developed medical instrumentation; taken Class I, II, and III products through the FDA approval process; raised capital for start-up operations and sustained successful manufacturing operations. This experience will be critical in creating the infrastructure of an organization that will be able to accomplish the aggressive objectives as discussed in this plan.
Terry L. RayPresident and Chief Executive Officer, Co-Founder
Mr. Ray serves as President of the Company. He is the founder of and currently operates Ray-Med Associates, Inc. This company is devoted to the development, manufacture and distribution of specialized medical products. Mr. Ray founded Ray-Med Associates in 1987 and has continuously operated this company. Ray-Med developed manufactured innovative new products and distributed products selling in the millions. Prior to founding Ray-Med Associates, he was an independent orthopedic implant device sales representative from 1987 to 1989. Prior to 1977, he was a accredited physician’s assistant specializing in surgery. Mr. Ray has served as a medical consultant for companies such as Bremer Medical, AcroMed and Medical Products International. He holds a B.A. in Gerontology, Sociology, Psychology and Biology from Stephen F. Austin State University.
Dr. James W. Zeluff M.D.Medical Director, Co-Founder
Dr. Zeluff serves as Medical Director and clinical advisor of the Company and assists in the Company’s product development and design. He currently is in the private practice of gynecology. Dr. Zeluff was Board Certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1981 and was Certified by the Accreditation Council for Gynecologic Endoscopy in 1996.
Leonel Dominguez
Chief Operating Officer and Sr. Vice President of Product Development
Mr. Dominguez has 23 years experience in product design, manufacturing and operations, 14 of those years within the medical device industry. He has developed and patented numerous implantable devices and instrument systems for such companies as Smith & Nephew, Medtronic, Scient’x USA and start-up companies participating in high growth markets requiring innovation, speed to market, and quality manufacturing. He holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech and a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Miami.
